Information on these anthologies are scant & I'm trying to collate as much accurate data as possible.

My points on the Red Skelton are hypothetical, & though logical I don't know for certain. The ISFdb is more accurate with their strictly sci-fi entries. As for the guys over at Vault, they're far more knowledgeable on these points than I am.

Finally thanks for the compliment, & I look forward to watching your site grow.Casual Debrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08098608670682517783noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-579888615790908107.post-47044066439614852462012-04-25T09:00:58.472+02:002012-04-25T09:00:58.472+02:00Hi "Zybahn"!
Thanks for the corrections!...Hi "Zybahn"!
Thanks for the corrections! It looks as though you are correct concerning weither Robert Arthur edited "A Red Skelton in your Closet". It's neither listed by either Mr. Arthur's Daughter's page or at the ISFB Robert Arthur list. Sadly I had read this on the REH borad and at the "Vault of Evil" board and stupidly accepted it at face value. I was also, falsely, under the impression that Robert Arthur ediited ALL "Alfred Hitchcock" brand anthologies up till his death. I'm adding your corrections to the blog post.
Thanks for taking the time and take care.

Doug.

P.S. "Casual Debris" is very impressive.Doughttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10899692178606630762noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-579888615790908107.post-10547176910653078812012-04-25T04:00:57.685+02:002012-04-25T04:00:57.685+02:00Thank you so much for linking up my AHP list as we...Thank you so much for linking up my AHP list as well my article on the anthologies! I'm hoping to finish updating the bibliography soon; feel free to add or correct any information.

Arthur didn't edit all of these, though he did edit many of the earlier ones until his death in 1969 (when Harold Q. Masur took over). Nor did Arthur edit Haunted Houseful; that one
was by Muriel Fuller.

Are you certain he was behind the Red Skelton
anthology? It's definitely possible since his "Haunted Trailer" is included. However, he worked for Random House/Dell & the Skelton was
published by Tempo Books (a division of Grosset & Dunlap). I always saw the Skelton, along with the Karloff by Avon to be competing anthologies, other publishers vying for a piece of the market that RH had (in North America at least) done so well in, and these two
contained more classic horror and little of the humour that Arthur was partial to. Moreover he'd done two anthologies for RH that year as well as being in the early stages of the Three Investigators series (also for RH).

Are you aware of others he may have edited?

Great to meet another fan of these anthologies!Casual Debrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08098608670682517783noreply@blogger.com
